Storm Ready Men FAQ
Straight answers to the questions men actually ask before they start.
What is Storm Ready Men?
Storm Ready Men is a personal-development program that helps men prepare for life’s inevitable hardships before they hit, instead of running from them.
It is built around the idea that every man faces storms — death, job loss, marriage crisis, addiction, loneliness, lost purpose — and that the men who come through them well are the ones who built a foundation ahead of time. Founded by Jay Pyatt, it combines a practical framework, a spiritual foundation, and real male community.
Who is Storm Ready Men for?
It is for men roughly aged 30 to 70 who are tired of running from their problems and ready to do real work.
That includes men facing addiction, men who feel isolated and unknown, men in a marriage crisis, and men who have lost their sense of purpose. It is not for men looking to be rescued by someone else or to blame someone else for their situation.
Is Storm Ready Men a religious program?
It is Christian-informed but open to any man who is willing to consider something bigger than himself.
Daily spiritual practice is one of the seven Foundation Stones, and the framework draws on biblical imagery. But men from a range of backgrounds take part, and the practical work — community, reflection, mentorship, health — applies regardless of where a man starts spiritually.
What are the seven Foundation Stones?
They are the seven practices a man builds into his life so his foundation holds under pressure.
They are: a Circle of Support (3 to 5 men who truly know you), Daily Spiritual Practice, Daily Reflection, Ongoing Education, Healthy Restoration, a Mentor, and Physical Health. The Storm Ready Assessment scores you on all seven.
What is the Storm Ready Assessment?
It is a free, seven-question self-assessment that scores how prepared you are across the seven Foundation Stones.
It takes under three minutes, gives you an overall readiness score, and shows which areas are weakest so you know where to start. It is the recommended first step for any man new to Storm Ready Men.
How much does Storm Ready Men cost?
Getting started is free, and paid programs are being rolled out in stages.
The YouTube content, the assessment, and the blog are free. Paid options in development include a self-paced course, weekly accountability groups, and one-on-one mentoring with Jay. Take the assessment to be notified as each launches.
How is this different from a program like NoFap?
Single-issue programs target one addiction, while Storm Ready Men addresses the loneliness, purpose, and relationship struggles underneath it.
Quitting a behavior is hard to sustain when nothing has changed underneath. Storm Ready Men treats addiction as one storm among many and builds the whole foundation so recovery has something to stand on.
Is Storm Ready Men a replacement for therapy?
No — it is a mentorship and community program, not clinical treatment, and it is not a substitute for professional care.
Jay Pyatt is a mentor and coach, not a licensed therapist. Many men benefit from both. If you are in crisis or dealing with a diagnosed mental health condition, professional help should come first, and Storm Ready Men can run alongside it.
Who is Jay Pyatt?
Jay Pyatt is the founder of Storm Ready Men, a recovery and personal-development mentor with more than 15 years in recovery and a restored marriage.
His own life has spanned military service, physical fitness, real failure, addiction and recovery, and divorce and remarriage. That range is why he speaks about most of life’s storms from experience rather than theory. He also runs The Couple Cure, a channel for wives and couples.
My wife found this first. Is that normal?
Yes — many wives discover The Couple Cure first and send their husbands to Storm Ready Men.
However a man arrives, he is welcome. There is also dedicated support for wives and partners, because they carry a real weight of their own and deserve help, not just resources for him.
What kind of storms does the program prepare men for?
Any major hardship a man faces — including death and grief, job loss, marriage crisis, loneliness, lost purpose, shame, illness, aging, and addiction.
The point is not to predict which storm hits first, but to build a man who can stay standing when any of them do. Uncertainty itself is treated as the storm that underlies all the others.
